Summary of fictional and factual shows:

Summary of fictional and factual programmes on ITV and Channel 5:

ITV:
Overall, there are more factual tv shows than fictional throughout the week on ITV; the majority of factual shows are news shows, or talk shows such as The Jeremy Kyle Show or  Loose Women. There are news shows scattered throughout the day, and therefore attract a wide audience who are available to watch at different times of the day, (morning news, lunchtime news, and two evening news shows). The fictional side of the channel focuses on soap dramas and game shows; therefore attracting an audience of young adults. ITV has a more specific target audience than Channel 5, as the factual and fictional shows cover mature topics and have an informative style instead of a style that would attract even younger audiences.

Channel 5:
Similar to ITV, the fictional element of the shows contains many soap dramas or comedies such as Home And Away and Neighbours which attracts an audience of young adults; however the channel also uses it's TV scheduling to attract a much younger audience. Shows such as Peppa Pig, and Paw Patrol are on from 6am-8:30am nearly every morning which suits parents and children's everyday schedules. The factual shows on Channel 5 take on more of a documentary style, or are in fact documentaries or docudramas; examples of these are Inside and The Nightmare Neighbour Next door. Similarly to ITV there multiple news shows on everyday at different time slots to expand the target audience. Therefore, Channel 5 has more of an informative and educational tone to it's shows, and focuses more on the factual shows, and focuses on giving those shows more coverage by placing them at the end of the day.

After considering this information about the styles of each of the channels, and researching into different factual and fictional shows I have come to the conclusion that my tv show will be factual. By focusing on the documentaries and docudramas that are shown on Channel 5 I have decided that I want to produce a documentary. I feel as if my documentary will fit best on Channel 5 as the majority of TV scheduling is taken up by factual shows.

Front page for magazine (planning + drafts):

Planning: I took some long shot images of the individual who would represent the actor, Rob Young, who stars in the film 'The Struggle'. I selected a bright, and appealing background to engage the audience; I kept a restricted colour palette in mind when taking these images to link back to my magazine article. By using warm, yellow tones in the image I was able to create convergence between my front cover, double page spread, and the title shown in the documentary. Using the rule of three, I ensured the individual was placed in the centre of the shot, and took up the majority of the image; to convey a high status and significance of a celebrity appeal to the magazine. In terms of proxemics, I placed the individual in the centre of the shot; to engage the audience, and to allow me to place my text on either side. I also left room on the top of the shot, to allow me to use a large, and bold title to create clarity and an appeal for my audie...
