Research into Lifestyle Magazines : (overview)

This magazine  is aimed at women, to allow them to keep on top of latest fashion trends, diets and some celebrity gossip. There are interviews from people like Twiggy, and Helen Mirren  as the magazine is aimed at middle-aged women. There is a lot of health advice, and ways for women over 50years old to stay in shape and healthy. The magazine covers topics like beauty, health, fashion, consumer good, and travel. The magazine promotes a sense of nostalgia as it looks at older fashion trends, but has a sense of variety as it gives expert advice on everyday problems, and health choice. (This magazine doesn't fit my target audience of millennials) This magazine is aimed at both men and women of around 20years old (which fits with my target audience); the content portrays visual culture such as film, fashion, art, photography, and other contemporary forms of design. The magazine is positioned in London, but includes content from photographers and creators around...

Brainstorm for magazine cover :

Content : I will select the most memorable character I interview by selecting the resident with the most interesting story, and make them the  centre of my magazine front cover.  To apply a sense of convergence with both my products I will use some quotations from the interviews I do in the magazine cover; as well as that I will include images of the residents I have filmed. By including statistics and information about homelessness as an issue, I will inform the audience on the severity of the problem as that wasn't my intention in the documentary. Despite using statistics in my opening, I may use those facts as an opening to discussing the issue in a broader way.  Due to Channel 5 containing mainly factual shows, I will focus on providing information on homelessness as well as getting first-hand information from each resident of Jimmy's I filmed. Channel 5 have conveyed their need for unique documentaries, and so I will create ...

Visiting my filming location :

In order to gain more of an understanding about the reality of being homeless, and how shelters alike operate I visited Jimmy's Homeless Shelter on 19/09/19. I visited to help me establish how I would film my documentary, and discuss how I would acquire people to interview. I spoke to Barry who is the head of Communications, Fundraising, and Events; he was very cooperative and support and allowed me to develop my ideas. I discussed with him my intentions for my documentary and how I wanted to show a different and more truthful perspective into homeless people; and I want to focus on the individuals and their personalities and interests instead of how they may be labelled as homeless. My conversations with him established where I would film which will be in the common room in the downstairs area of Jimmy's as this is a familiar area to the residents so it will increase the verstehen of my interviews. We confirmed days in which I could visit and film the interviews, and who I ...
