Storyboard for my audio visual :

Opening Sequence: (Montage sequence)

Shots 1,2,3 :

City centre, market square, Cambridge University (Appealing parts Cambridge)
Over the shots are statistics on universities, wealth, economic growth.
Long shots, and establishing shots. (panning shots)
Sombre soundtrack.
Black out screen.

Shots 4,5:
City centre, Sidney Street, Hobson's Passage. (Places homeless people sleep in Cambridge)
Over the shots statistics on homelessness.
Long shots, and establishing shots.
Soundtrack, more dramatic section to create anticipation.

Shots 6,7:
Close up shots. Some clips of people I have interviewed (most memorable moments) diegetic sound.
Soundtrack quietly in background.
Natural lighting, in Jimmy's common room.

Shot 8:
Title shown in front of image of the streets of Cambridge, whereby a homeless induvidual is sleeping.
Soundtrack then fades out, image fades out but title remains.

Middle section: (main sequence)


Numerous shots:

Black screen
Diegetic sound of 'What is a turning point in your life?' 
Then multiple medium close-ups of the individuals answering the question with a small statement (diegetic sound). 
Natural lighting, in Jimmy's common room.

Numerous shots:
Close up, or medium close shot
Diegetic sound of other questions. 
Natural lighting, in Jimmy's common room.

These types of shots will be repeated with the different questions I will ask the guests, however I will focus more on certain guests therefore will have more shots of them included. I will use continuity editing when one guest is discussing the question.


(Potentially:)

Long shots, medium long-shots, panning shots.
Cross cut editing, to match images of the streets to topics the residents discuss. 

Concluding sequence:

Then multiple medium close-ups of the individuals answering the question with a small statement (diegetic sound). 
Emotional / intense soundtrack (non-digetic sound)
Natural lighting, in Jimmy's common room.
Fade.

Montage editing of the characters laughing, in slow motion.
This section will demonstrate a sense of finality; but also create anticipation for the rest of the show.

Front page for magazine (planning + drafts):

Planning: I took some long shot images of the individual who would represent the actor, Rob Young, who stars in the film 'The Struggle'. I selected a bright, and appealing background to engage the audience; I kept a restricted colour palette in mind when taking these images to link back to my magazine article. By using warm, yellow tones in the image I was able to create convergence between my front cover, double page spread, and the title shown in the documentary. Using the rule of three, I ensured the individual was placed in the centre of the shot, and took up the majority of the image; to convey a high status and significance of a celebrity appeal to the magazine. In terms of proxemics, I placed the individual in the centre of the shot; to engage the audience, and to allow me to place my text on either side. I also left room on the top of the shot, to allow me to use a large, and bold title to create clarity and an appeal for my audie...
